The Autumn Mist cardigan has roots . . . well ribs anyway. This variation on the Plum Frost by Elinor Brown has sprouted just in time to celebrate the Summer Solstice.

Knitting a wool cardigan on a summer day, always feels just fine, but this chilly year, even more so! Watching the vertical lines of shaded corrugated rib grow and change, fits perfectly with the gardening instincts that are stirring these days. Twelve herbs are happily taking root, too.  The Red Rubin Basil is the contrast colour.

The steeked area of nine stitches between the markers, is worked in alternating colours in each row to create a firm fabric for cutting when the sweater is ready for the button band. The body of this cardigan is worked in one colour to the yoke where the sleeves will be joined in, and the fair isle pattern will be worked around the shoulders.  This is a great beginner fair isle project.  Two classes are working on it now, so many beautiful colourways will soon emerge.  Check back soon.
