Happy Woolly New Year To You!

and may all your twinkly wishes come true in 2016!

It has been a peaceful and reflective two weeks, with time spent with Cardigan, special friends and family, a lot of designing and hand work, plus workshop planning and preparation.  But, as  usual, I miscalculated – two weeks of creative freedom seemed so much longer than it turned it to be!  It has been full of wonder but now it’s done, and there was not nearly enough time for a relaxing gathering for you here at the studio.  So that is still in the works, and something to look forward to!  Your support means so much to me, and we must celebrate!  So please stay tuned, and meanwhile. . . . .

This year, I have decided to post the weekly emails that I send to you most Mondays.  Since I include a lot of information about ongoing projects, and links that I come across during my research, I felt it might be useful to post these messages on my blog site.  Although I don’t like to admit to any hold that reality has on me, I get to be with my delightful Firsties full-time, so I’m going to try a little time management.

Here’s what’s coming up in Working Hands Fibre Arts programming:

Thank Goodness It’s Friday Night Knitting and Crocheting  Winter Session #1 begins soon, Friday Night 6:30 – 9:30 pm.

The full schedule for this program is:
Session #1 January 22, 29, and February 5
Session #2 February 12, 19, 26, and March 4
Please see the schedule page for a full description of the program, and let me know by Wednesday if you will be attending.

Brioche – the finale – happens Saturday, January 16 from noon to 5.
We will be working Brioche in the round.  We are going to look at a few ways to cast off that complement the Brioche texture, and allow the patterning to flow off the edge, rather than be interrupted by a horizontal line along the cast off edge.  We’ll try a sewn cast off, and one that uses the Kitchener Stitch.

Beginner Spinning classes are all set to begin this month. Are you interested? Please let me know.

Fair Isle Fiesta
Based on your requests, I have put together a 6 session program including a small fun project; a beautiful hat; and a steeked vest. These projects will interest all levels of Fair Isle knitters, providing the practice that brings comfort in this traditional form of colour work. Classes run for 5 hours once per month until the beginning of June. These classes are highly instructional but low pressure and individualized to meet your needs. I have set the dates, but once we meet as a class, we can jiggle them where possible. We always seem to work this out, to accommodate vacations and other commitments that can’t be shifted.
Please see the schedule page and email if you would like registration information, and a spot held for you. You will not be registered though, until payment is received. The deadline for payment is January 15.

With gratitude!  Let’s begin looking for our 2016 knitted bliss, right now!

Some courage may be required this week, but showing up and getting back into the rhythm of our important work will be a great first step!  Remember how wonderful it can be!

Be kind to yourselves!
