January Finished Project: number one
The gentle art of keeping tea hot. . .
Jane Brocket is a British blogger and writer who has published several books about making, that push my cozy button from time to time. She writes about stitching, baking, knitting, crocheting, and quilting, and some of her writing has caused great debate, a lot of which I have read with interest. I am a modish woman who has a passion for my career, but also for making a cozy home. I express myself creatively in ways that are considered domestic, I suppose. The debate revolves around beliefs that engaging in, and loving this work, belies women’s efforts to achieve independence and self worth since the 1950’s. Hmmmm, a discussion that calls for a lot of tea, me thinks.
In her book The Gentle Art of Knitting Jane features 40 projects inspired by every day beauty. The chapters are divided into Comfort, Practical, Charm, Colour, and Style. ‘these are a few of my favourite attributes’ The stripy tea cozies appear in the Charm chapter, and are shown in five sizes ranging from extra large to tiny teapots. I have been working on this one for longer than a few extra large pots of tea! and am so happy to have it all sewn up.
