Hello there! Here’s what’s happening around here this week. . . .
TGIFNK Session #2 begins this Friday night, 6:30 – 9:30 pm Please register (email) by Wednesday.
my sheep heid in progress
Fair Isle Class #2 of our Sheep Heid program happens Saturday, noon to 5 pm. We will be turning up the facing behind the corrugated rib (yes, we changed things up a bit!) to unite the provisional cast on edge with the main body. Plans are being made for the 2nd 3 weeks, a separate program, so if you are interested in a Fair Isle project and would like to take part, I’m keen to know which project catches your eye.
Registration has opened at Fibres West and I’d love to work with you in my Brioche Knitting Basics Workshop, Friday, March 18 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. This program is an introduction. You will be welcomed into the world of ‘barks and burps’ (really!). Working in one colour, we’ll work increases and decreases to build an informative sampler for future projects. Please go to the website for registration information. The class is a go, so please register soon to get a spot. This event is organized by Brenda Alexander of Penelope Fibre Arts.
If you are interested in even more Brioche Knitting, Kim McKenna and I are collaborating for our 3rd year, at the Edenvale Weekend Retreat, July 29 to 31, a long weekend in a gorgeous location, also organized by Brenda. Kim will focus on spinning yarn suitable for Brioche Knitting, and I will lead a study in Brioche Knitting. You may spin only, knit only, or spin and knit. The retreat centre (a.k.a. delicious organic home grown creative food!) is lovely! Read more about it here and contact Brenda, if you are interested in coming along.
about the proposed lace program. . . .The Mountain Moss Shawl has been requested again (love it!), and I would also like to do this simple beaded shawl – both are medium-sized, beautiful and perfect for summer. This would be a 5 session program, with dates to be confirmed for April, May, and June. Please check back for the dates.
I have joined instagram. . . late to the party, I know! I wanted time to think it through. This form of sharing has the potential to be authentic and spontaneous. I find that I never use my twitter account (my bad), but technology is personal and must suit you, right? I feel good when I check in with members I follow on instagram, and think I’d like to share in that way, too. It’s early days, but I think it will be fun!
I am workinghandstudio on instagram, and on ravelry.
So that’s it for now. I hope you have a wonderfully woolly week. Maybe some of it will be spent here at the studio!
I’d love to see you.
Thank you so much!
