Happy February!

This Friday is our last class in the first TGIFNK (see schedule page) session this year. It would be wonderful to work with you if you can make it.

Session 2 will begin February 19 and run for 4 consecutive weeks. Please contact me to register by February 15.

Our postponed Brioche finale will happen this Saturday from noon to 5 pm. We will be working a small two colour in the round Brioche project – very cute and practical. We will also work an Italian Cast Off, discuss the Tubular Cast On, and continue with our class projects.

If you missed out on this Brioche program, and are interested in learning, I will be teaching a half day workshop at Fibres West this year.  Registration is now open.

Do you love Hedgehog Fibres (as much as I do)? My first HH experience was knitting my stirrup socks in her sock yarn dyed in the Banana Legs colour way. Valley Yarn received a new shipment last week. I might have bought a hank at sock class last Wednesday and cast on my favourite every day hat pattern that night! There might also be two more hanks waiting for me to knit this shawl. I’m hopeless!

I am planning a Wednesday night, 6 to 8 pm, Lace Knitting Program, which would run alternate weeks for 6 weeks. I have not firmed up the dates yet, but would love to know if this would interest you? This program would introduce lace stitch patterns in the first half of the class, and a class project during the second half of each class. You will build a reference binder, work samples, and have a beautiful shawl to wear. We will investigate all aspects of lace knitting, from chart reading to blocking. Please let me know what you think, and I will work out the dates for a Spring Workshop (April, May, June). The project will be a not-too-big, neck down shawl, with a simple main section, and a knitted on lace border, worked in fingering weight yarn.

I have fallen in love with the simplicity of this quilt in Liberty of London fabrics. The rich cream background and the beautiful warm colours are perfect! ’thinking of sharpening up the cutter and oiling up the sewing machine . . . . .

in the mail . . . . . I picked up a treasure sent from Voolenvine Yarns yesterday. I got lucky on her update, and somehow landed a hank of the Blitz Base in her Lovesong colour way. Kristin’s podcast is worth a listen, too. She is a talented dyer and has designed a few pretty patterns for her yarns.

Have a wonderful week, and to finish off today, here is a Cardigan approved sheep video (advertisement) that is making the rounds.

take good care,
