Ah, time. . . . . . to finish off those patient and loved W.I.P.s  that have been longing for some attention! Here are the lacy ones that were coddled and photographed this week. . . . .

I was drawn into a photo I saw recently on Pinterest.  It was the cuff of a sock, knit in a highly textured 8 stitch version of Crosshatch Lace, worked in a yarn that had been dyed to create an ombre effect.  The texture and colour play were gorgeous!  Tracking down any information about the fabric and project was frustrating.  Often pictures aren’t linked to a source on Pinterest. (arghhh)  But the photo was linked to a Flicker account, and the lace stitch pattern was written out under the photo, with a mention about the yarn she had used.  I used my own studio sock pattern and worked the lace design into the socks you see below. That’s a close-up of them in the photo above.  They are a gift for my hairdresser who is having a birthday and a wedding this month.  I tried to make sure that the socks looked as though they belonged together, but each had its own look.  This project is ravelled here.  If you are interested in learning sock design, please check the schedule page.

The socks in the two photos above and ravelled here, are knit from the toe up to the cuff.  The lace stitch was inspired by a collection of Ginkgo Leaves piled on the ground.  The designer knit hers in the beautiful saffron colour she had seen.  I changed the pattern to suit my Verdant Gryphon yarn, knitting a short row heel, but appreciated that the designer generously offered her pattern for free.

I love Mason Jars, and am happy with a piece of jute or hemp string tied in a bow around the top.  My favourite flowers  look great in a rustic-ified jar.  Knitting a lacy cover for this almond butter jar, then dropping a tealight, or some flowers into it, is screaming country and cottage, and giving me a great reason to pull out the gi-normous ball of #10 crochet cotton I have been stashing.  This project is ravelled here.

Well, that sure feels good, and may I mention that the studio space, and the garage have both had ‘a moment’, too!  Oh so tidy and organized!  In the last few weeks, I have touched or at least said ‘hi’ to almost everything I own, blowing out all the cobwebs and the ‘I wonder where’s’.

I hope to be back here next week with some more stories about loose ends darned in.  Snip, snip!
