Autumn is mine!  Born into it, and witness to nine prairie cycles, I feel my world settle into a comforting rhythm as Fall arrives. My favourite foods are being scooped from the fields. The children come back to my classroom full of wonder. New project ideas – Wow! dance in my head, and the studio is buzzing, with Fall classes beginning soon. The Circle Craft Cooperative is anticipating a great Christmas Show, we are busy planning for a successful year in the shopand the Annual Artisan’s Sale is only a few weeks away.

Did you catch that antique Swedish loom, partially constructed?  That, with all the other parts, is my birthday present.

While vacationing in my childhood neighbourhood this summer, I tracked down this surprise not far from our first Canadian home.

Wolseley Wool

I knew what I would buy before walking in the door, and I found them there after a wonderful time browsing in this well stocked shop. I bought three hanks of artisanal blends in gorgeous fall colours, didn’t I!  The yarn is Malabrigo Rios, in colourways called Glazed Carrots, Volcan, and Glitter. Even holding the colours made me feel that all was right, and nope, I had no project in mind.

When I got home, I made plans to knit this,  then this, later I thought this was it, oh but I love these.  Then along came Britain’s  Pom Pom Magazine and more ideas.  I am inspired by the striping in the Firewood Shawl by Caitlin ffrench.  These shots are from Issue 5 of Pom Pom.  Hmmmmmm. . . .

There is a Tea Leaves Cardigan in the works, too, a top-down project with a beautiful ruched yoke.  Can you guess the colourway?  I will post details here soon.

There are Action Research projects beginning at school, and sharing with the staff of another wonderful conference in Washington, DC, that I attended in June.

Then there is this guy, who makes all my human planning and striving seem pointless.  What’s Autumn really all about?  Why squirrels, of course!  See ya!

where's the squirrels?
