The back of the house faces east, so getting out there early each morning, has become a ritual of bliss, especially as Spring arrives in all her glory. There is a lot to take in on this sunny Easter morning. These pretty faces were planted yesterday.
It is still chilly, and keeping the jammies on is part of this ritual, so bundling up in crocheted blankets with a cup of frothy coffee, is a must. Someone waits patiently on the doorstep while the kettle boils, and the symphony of peeps and tweets begins. (That’s real birds, not the iPhone!)
I’ve been nestled here for a few hours already and there’s no sign of human life in the ‘hood yet – delightful!
That bit of grey is a sneak peek at the next class project. And that blanket? well. . . . it was my first granny square adventure. I finished it for my first studio apartment, at Barclay and Guildford in the West End, when I was 18 years old! I love love love this blanket!
This colourful variation on the granny square should be ready for some nestling in a few months. I ordered the yarn from Deramore’s in the UK, and a big puffy bag of yarn arrived on my doorstep in four days!
I try to add one stripe per week, but sometimes projects for knitting school must get done first. Take a look at Lucy’s pattern on her Attic 24 blog. Her crochet work is g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.!
The rays sift through and cast beautiful shadows.
I am working from a beautiful yarn bowl created by Wildfire Pottery and purchased at Fibres West last weekend. The sock is a pretty pattern by Evelyn Clark.
The sun takes its time moving away from this cozy space. A lot of work gets done before reality imposes itself upon the day, and insists that the jammies get traded in for big people clothes. And later, when the sun drenches the front of the house, we have this to look forward to. I took these pics yesterday afternoon.
Happy, blissful Easter to you and thank you so much for visiting me here!
